How To Test T1 Lines
Many T1 lines are installed without proper testing and configuration. It is important for the provider and the customer to balance risks arising out of this situation, not only to avoid expenses on testing equipment, but also to make the T1 line error free. T1 line testing is a slightly complicated process for a technical amateur. You need to know the technical aspects of Internet thoroughly to connect the T1 lines and get it working properly. But there are a few simple procedures that could be followed to test the working condition of aT1 line, or to find out what has gone wrong during a breakdown.
During a break down, the first step is to determine whether the problem is with your PC or the T1 line. If you get a message saying the computer is using a saved version of your default home page when you open your Internet explorer, there is definitely something wrong with the T1 line. The next step is to check if the CSU/DSU, the router and hub are plugged into the telephone line and their lights are blinking. If they are, switch them on and off alternately three or four times. This will solve most kinds of T1 line problems. Once you identify the problem, the best way and the most popular one to test signal problems on T1 cables is the Bit Error Rate (BER) test. After configuring each T1 line for the test, you should let it run from one minute to 240 hours. This will give an error statistics base in the T1 line.
You can also use Cisco or other loopback testing devices to isolate the problem of the T1 serial link. These can be software loopbacks or hardware plug-in loopbacks. Another way of running a BER test is to configure a remote testing tool which will transfer data simultaneously with the test pattern. Once the problem is identified using loopbacks in two different directions, they can be rectified by resetting multiplexers at either ends of the T1 line.

Linksys WRT160N Router wireless setup
This is basically a look at my new router and the speed I am getting at about 100 feet. My old WRT54GS router did not work with my new laptop. It's probably better that I got a new router anyway. My old one ran every day for about 2.5 years and it was "G" type. The new "N" type routers are far, far better. I was told by the guy at Best Buy to get a NetGear or Belkin, but I have used Linksys for years. I imagine the WRT160N will be fine. I have read good reviews on it.

How To Open Firewall Ports In Windows 7
All connections into and out from a computer to the Internet, have associated a number of roads or highways of data called Ports.
Generally, applications that need to interact with the Internet, require a way that power authorized by moving data in and out, but for security reasons, Windows 7 as well as other operating systems, by default only ports that are open brings necessary for the most basic functions.
In this manual, we will explain the steps to open ports on Windows 7 and so using this process, you can open ports for eMule in Windows 7 or to play online in Windows 7.
Configure the ports in Windows 7
The first thing we must do to open ports on Windows 7, is to access the Windows Firewall. To do this, enter the Control Panel and select Windows Firewall.
Then click on Advanced Settings (Advanced Settings) and in the window that opens, select the left, input rule (Inbound Rules).
Now, a list of all applications and access settings on the firewall in Windows 7 is opened. We can give full access to the connections of an application (which is not highly recommended if not familiar with this) or we can open the ports that need to perform a certain activity.
To open the ports in Windows 7, click on New Rule (New Rule) and we see a new window
Click on Ports (Port) and now must tell Windows 7, what we want to open ports.
Because Windows7 firewall provides support for managing multiple types of networks is also necessary to indicate which networks you want to apply this rule of ports.
Finally, to end of open ports on Windows 7, the firewall asks us to believe this kind of profile associated with ports that are open. In this window, we will assign a name (eg Messenger) and a description that we put the ports you have open this rule.
To finish the process, click on Finish and you've been able to open ports in Windows 7 games or other applications that require this process.
